More open space delivered for growing South West Sydney

Families in one of South West Sydney’s fastest-growing communities are set to enjoy a major new park in Leppington, as the Minns Labor Government continues to deliver more open public spaces alongside new homes in growing neighbourhoods.

The new park delivered in partnership with Liverpool City Council, transforms almost eight

hectares of former pastureland into a vibrant recreational destination in the heart of the South West Growth Area.

This is an example of how the Minns Labor Government is building better communities by delivering quality open space to support around 11,500 new homes and 11,000 jobs over the next 20 years, which were unlocked by the rezoning of Leppington Town Centre.

By delivering high-quality open space alongside housing, we’re making sure residents have access to green spaces and recreation as the precinct develops into a thriving centre for families, workers, and businesses.

Located opposite Forest Memorial Park along Camden Valley Way, the park offers a range of sport- and nature-inspired play spaces for young people, alongside picnic areas and a walking path through grasslands.

Key features include:

• a beginner’s pump track for bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters
• a paved pathway through grasslands connecting to Camden Valley Way
• a youth hub with a basketball/netball half-court, climbing boulders, and hammock zone
• nature-based play area with sandstone steps, nets, and balance logs for climbing
• inclusive and accessible play equipment, including a slide, basket swing, and spinner
• a sensory play space with timber xylophone, chimes, and voice tubes
• sheltered picnic areas and an accessible amenities block 
• parking for 15 vehicles, including accessible spaces
• native tree planting, garden beds, and revegetation areas. 

The Leppington Town Centre planning proposal was finalised in June 2026, enabling more housing alongside a network of parks, green corridors, a civic plaza, and upgraded transport infrastructure.

The NSW Government has now delivered new and upgraded open space through the Parks for People program across Appin, Parramatta, the Northern Beaches, Beaumont Hills, Fairfield, and Penrith.

Community events, including free sports and recreational activities, will be held at the new park on Sunday 23 August 2026 and Sunday 30 August 2026 to celebrate its opening.
