COVID-19 Update - NT on track: No new COVID-19 cases

No new community cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the NT.

A total of 2128 COVID-19 tests were undertaken across the NT yesterday, all returning a negative result.

Our tracing effort is continuing with 81 close

contacts and 504 casual contacts identified. All close contacts have been traced, trapped and tested. All but 12 of the casual contacts have been contacted and are in isolation. Our focus today is on making sure all casual contacts have been tested and that those results are returned.

Wastewater sampling is being undertaken daily, with test results for Darwin expected later today and results for Katherine tomorrow. Wastewater sampling is a useful monitoring tool, providing a point-in-time snapshot of the COVID-19 situation.

It is important that all people in the Northern Territory continue to check the COVID-19 website to review the list of NT public exposure sites and get tested if you are identified as a close or casual contact or if you have symptoms.

COVID-19 testing sites are open across the NT. To arrange a COVID test, book online at coronavirus.nt.gov.au or contact the COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 490 484.

In addition, the Marrara Drive-Through Testing Site is open in Darwin and a Katherine Walk-In Testing Site is open at the Katherine Community Health Care Centre. No Bookings are required at these sites.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is one of the five reasons to leave home during lockdown in Greater Darwin and Katherine. It’s great to see Territorians getting the COVID-19 vaccine, with 57 per cent of people having had their first dose and 37.6 per cent of people fully vaccinated.
