Celebrating Harmony Week across the Territory

Harmony Week 2025 has arrived, and the Finocchiaro CLP Government is proud to celebrate our rich cultural diversity.

Running from Monday, 17 March to Sunday, 23 March, Harmony Week is a time for all Australians to come together and embrace our unique cultures.

In recognition of the Northern

Territory’s rich cultural diversity, the CLP Government is investing $56,000 in the 2024-25 Harmony Grants to support community organisations celebrating Harmony Week.

Schools, community organisations and local government councils are among the successful applicants receiving funding to get projects, events and initiatives off the ground which promote this year’s national Harmony Day theme, ‘Harmony – Everyone Belongs’.

Funding is also being used to support the delivery of the Harmony Soiree event which will take place at the Darwin Waterfront, and the Big Day Out in Harmony in Alice Springs on 31 May 2025.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Jinson Charls said: "The Northern Territory is home to people from many different cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Harmony Week is a time to celebrate this diversity and ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging.”

“It’s fantastic to see how young people are getting involved through school and community programs," he said.

Harmony Week also coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Friday, 21 March.

As part of the national celebration of Harmony Week, Australians are encouraged to wear orange throughout the week as a symbol of support for inclusiveness and cultural respect.

Grant applications are also now open for the Multicultural Grants Program – Celebrate.

It provides short-term funding to assist with the organising, promoting and running of cultural events, activities and festivals that promote social inclusion, cohesion and cultural and linguistic diversity.
