The Finocchiaro CLP Government has delivered more than $261,000 in targeted support to help Territory tourism businesses recover from severe weather and continue operating through the peak tourism season.

Following the assesment process, 53 businesses were awarded grants of up to $5,000 to repair or replace physical and operational equipment damaged by severe weather.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Marie-Clare Boothby, said the funding had provided practical support to operators when they needed it most.
“Territory tourism businesses have faced an incredibly challenging start to the year, with severe weather causing damage, disruption and, in some cases, forcing operators to temporarily close their doors,” Minister Boothby said.
“This funding has helped 53 businesses repair damaged equipment, replace essential items and get back to doing what they do best, welcoming visitors and showcasing the Territory.
“Our tourism operators are resilient, but recovery comes at a cost. This support has helped ease that pressure and allowed businesses to continue operating.
“Tourism is a critical part of the Territory economy, supporting local jobs, regional communities and thousands of small businesses.
“The Finocchiaro CLP Government will continue backing the businesses that drive our visitor economy and help make the Territory a must-do destination.”
Little Roper Stock Camp in Mataranka was among the businesses to receive funding, with owner Des Barritt saying the support had made a significant difference to its recovery.
“The funding has helped us immensely after we sustained significant damage during the severe weather,” Mr Barritt said.
“The assistance has been greatly appreciated, helping us replace essential equipment, recover sooner and continue welcoming visitors to Little Roper Stock Camp.”
Funding was awarded across 13 locations, including Katherine, Victoria Daly, Darwin, Alice Springs, Litchfield, East Arnhem, the Tiwi Islands and Central Australia.
Katherine received the highest number of grants, with 12 businesses supported, followed by Victoria Daly with 11 and Darwin with 8.
The NT Tourism Business Restart Fund supported businesses impacted by severe weather events, including flooding across the Big Rivers, Central Australia and Barkly regions, as well as Tropical Cyclone Narelle.
