Celebrate our Australian Olympic Team online! Facebook and Instagram launch Green and Gold FaceFilters and Profile Frames

The Australian Olympic Committee, Facebook and Instagram today launch Green and Gold FaceFilters and Profile Frames to drive support for our Australian athletes in Tokyo.

Through Facebook and Instagram, fans will have

a virtual “front row seat” at this year's Games. From athlete posts and behind-the-scenes video, to product experiences such as FaceFilters and Profile Frames, these exclusive features will help Australians express their fandom and connect with other fans -- almost as if they’re in the stadium.

The CEO of the Australian Olympic Committee, Matt Carroll AM, said: “We encourage Australians to get behind the Australian Olympic Team by turning Facebook and Instagram green and gold with the official Australian Olympic Team filters, profile frames, and using our #TokyoTogether hashtag. Let’s turn our feeds Green and Gold to show we are with the team in Tokyo.”

Athletes are the stars of the Games, and their cameras and experiences will be the lens through which many people experience Tokyo 2020. In collaboration with the AOC, Facebook is supporting Australia’s Olympic athletes as they connect with fans and share their successes and experiences across Facebook and Instagram. Get to know our Australian athletes and follow their journey’s on Facebook via Olympics Unleashed presented by Optus TV, the Tokyo Together Podcast and an exclusive Green and Gold series. This new series brings together sports at the grassroots level with Olympians, to inspire the champions of tomorrow.

Sports have the unique power to build community and bring people together. We're excited to support the Australian Olympic Team and help athletes stay connected with their communities back home,” said Will Easton, Managing Director, Facebook Australia and New Zealand.

277 million people had 1.5 billion interactions related to the Rio 2016 Olympics on Facebook alone. With this year’s Games taking place without an Australian crowd to support our team in the stadium, it is more important than ever to show support to our athletes through technology and digital communities. We very much hope our platforms can help people around the world enjoy the events safely and we look forward to celebrating the human achievement, optimism and progress the Games represent.”
