Tasman Highway road resurfacing at Paradise Gorge to mark completion of repairs

The Department of State Growth will be resurfacing a section of the Tasman Highway at Paradise Gorge from Wednesday, 24 November 2021 to Thursday, 25 November 2021, weather permitting.

Road users travelling through Paradise Gorge should plan for possible 10-minute delays.

The resurfacing is the final stage of work following the urgent removal of

more than 2,000 tonnes of rocks between May and July 2021. This work requires warm, dry conditions and with the weather warming up these works can now be completed.

The resurfacing provides a long-term fix after temporary repairs were put in place so that the Tasman Highway could be reopened after the major rock removal.

The speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h and one lane will be closed during the work hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

Road users are advised to keep to the posted speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.

We recognise the impact of the work at Paradise Gorge on the community this year and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this final stage.

Should poor weather conditions cause the resurfacing to be delayed, it will take place on the next appropriate days during the week commencing 29 November 2021.

Updates about these works will be posted on the RoadsTas Facebook page and the Transport website www.transport.tas.gov.au
