Lotterywest’s $7.7 million wave of support for Perth Festival

The McGowan Government, through Lotterywest, has set the stage for the 2022 Perth Festival, with significant funding for free community events and core program costs.

 

Lotterywest's $7.7 million grant will assist local arts initiatives and

avenues for Western Australian artists and creative organisations to join Perth Festival through its Connect program.

 

The program provides opportunities for WA creatives to work alongside local and national artists, giving them access to professional development.

 

Perth Festival 2022 celebrates the theme of Wardan (Ocean); this follows on from the success of the 2021 all-Western Australian program themed around Bilya (River).

 

Lotterywest Films, which opened last night, will show some of the world's finest films under the stars at the iconic outdoor theatre, UWA Somerville.

 

Lotterywest Films will feature Cannes Film Festival award-winners Memoria, Murina and opening night romantic comedy The Worst Person in the World, plus the world premiere of Renée Webster's WA-made How to Please a Woman.
