TODAY IS THE ONLY BREAKFAST SHOW IN AUSTRALIA TO GROW ITS AUDIENCE YOY IN TOTAL PEOPLE ACROSS THE 5 CITY

In yet another massive news year that has seen record-breaking lockdowns and border closures, Australians have flocked to the TODAY Show for trusted, up-to-the-minute news – and Karl and Ally have been with them every step of the way.

With Christmas just around the corner, our hosts Karl Stefanovic,

Ally Langdon, Alex Cullen, Brooke Boney and Tim Davies will be taking a well-deserved break, returning to our screens in January 2022. A summer line-up will host TODAY from next week, with a mixture of our regular team and new faces.

As the team started 2021, there was a feeling of optimism that the bleakness of 2020 was behind us. But as the Delta COVID-19 strain hit the country, NSW and Victoria plunged into lockdowns. Fortress Australia enforced draconian border closures, a sluggish vaccine rollout finally gained pace and division in our communities increased, making the need for trusted news more important than ever.

The one thing that’s been a constant during 2021, however, has been waking up with Karl and Ally on TODAY – the only breakfast show to grow its audience year-on-year across the 5 City in Total People.

  • TODAY is the #1 breakfast show in 2021 in all key demos of People 25-54, People 16-39 & GS + Child across the 5 City.
  • TODAY is the #1 breakfast show in 2021 in all key demos in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
  • TODAY is the #1 breakfast show in 2021 along the East Coast Metro in Total People.
  • TODAY is the #1 breakfast show in 2021 in Melbourne and Brisbane in Total People.
  • TODAY is the only breakfast show in Australia to grow its audience YoY in Total People across the 5 City (5.30am – 9.00am & 7.00am-9.00am).
  • TODAY’s audience is up YoY in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in Total People (5.30am – 9.00am).

So after nearly 250 early mornings this year, the TODAY hosts are taking a well-deserved sleep in over the festive season. From our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas, a happy new year and we look forward to waking up with you in January 2022.

Nine’s Director of Morning Television, Steven Burling, said “It’s been a challenging year as the pandemic and repeated lockdowns have taken their toll on Australians of all ages. During this time of crisis more and more viewers have made Today their breakfast program of choice for their daily news updates, and some much-needed laughs along the way.

“For Karl, Ally, Alex, Brooke and Tim (as well as the wider production team) it’s been a privilege to be welcomed into our audience’s homes, each and every day.”
