Record number of students complete their SACE in 2021

Hard work and persistence have paid off for the Class of 2021 with a record-breaking 15,644 South Australian students completing their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

3,512 students completed a VET Certificate III as part of their SACE – compared with 2,961 in 2020. 45.3% of SACE completers included VET in their studies.

This standout year also saw a record 428 Aboriginal students complete their SACE.

A record numbers of students with an intellectual disability completed their

SACE (with one or more modified subjects) – 353 this year compared with 323 in 2020.

3,897 students in country South Australia completed their SACE this year.

In the highest levels ever recorded, 81.2% of students who started their Personal Learning Plan (PLP) in 2019 completed their SACE over a three-year period.

1,282 Merits were also awarded to 1,016 students across the state.

Minister for Education John Gardner congratulated the Class of 2021 on their achievements.

“I am delighted for every single one of the 15,644 students who have achieved their SACE in 2021,” Minister Gardner said.

“It’s fantastic to see a record number of students completing their SACE this year, which is a testament to our students’ hard work, dedication and the world class education provided by our schools.

“Students have remained focused on their learning in what has been another year full of challenges and I am impressed with the dedication shown by the Class of 2021 to achieve their goals against all odds.

“I also commend our educators who have supported their students to be as successful as they can be during such complex times.

“Well done to the Class of 2021. I wish every student the very best of luck for the next chapter ahead of them.”

Professor Martin Westwell, Chief Executive of the SACE Board, paid tribute to schools and teachers for supporting students through a challenging year.

“As we move towards the future, we will all need to have resilience and be able to adapt to be successful,” Professor Westwell said.

“Students who have completed their SACE this year have demonstrated that they have what it takes to rise above and achieve. I am so proud that the SACE Class of 2021 stands out in this way.”

Results are available online from 8.30 am at Students Online accessed via sace.sa.edu.au, and students are scheduled to receive hard copies of their results in the post over the coming days.
