SA electricity consumers positive about energy for the first time in years

New data from Energy Consumers Australia’s tracking of consumer attitudes shows that the Marshall Liberal Government’s policies delivering cheaper and more reliable power have turned around consumer sentiment.

According to Energy Consumers Australia, 71% of South Australian households say they are satisfied with the value for money offered by their electricity service.

This a huge turnaround from a low point of 32% in December 2017 under the

previous Labor Government.

The huge rise in consumer sentiment aligns with the lower power bills and improved security achieved by the Marshall Government’s energy policies.

According to the Essential Services Commission of South Australia, the average market offer is down $303 since the change of Government.

More recent analysis by the Australian Energy Regulator outlined that the average bill is now down $422 lower under the Marshall Liberal Government’s policies.

“The increase from 32% satisfaction under Labor to 71% satisfaction under the Marshall Liberal Government is a very clear endorsement,” Minister Van Holst Pellekaan said.

“South Australians are now more satisfied with the value for money offered by their electricity service than the national average – with 71% of South Australian households satisfied compared to 67% nationally.

“Energy Consumers Australia analysis shows bills for small businesses are down another 7% in the last year.

“No surprise, people are seeing that we’re cleaning up Labor’s mess and consumers are clearly demonstrating their satisfaction with our progress.”

The Marshall Government’s policies such as the SA-NSW Interconnector which is soon to start construction are also attracting new investment to South Australia.
