New figures revealed today by the Marshall Government show that 44 per cent – nearly half – of currently eligible South Australians have now had their all-important booster shot.
In fact, in the last seven days alone, booster shots have increased faster than the growth in eligible population, with over 95,000 doses administered just last week – and over 260,000 doses in arms so far.
Doses administered are set to grow with the Mile End Booster Clinic coming online from
tomorrow.Premier Steven Marshall thanked South Australians for heeding the health advice and getting boosted at such a quick rate.
“South Australians have worked with the Government and health officials since day one, and they continue to do the right thing with showing up to get their booster shots,” Premier Marshall said.
“We know that the third booster dose provides a far better level of protection against the omicron variant, so my strong message to South Australians is to book that all-important appointment today to arm yourself and protect those around you.
“We’re adding new booster appointments all the time and will have the Mile End Netball Stadium site up and running from tomorrow, which will start vaccinating up to 5,000 South Australians a week and ramping up to 15,000 in the coming weeks.
“There are more appointments becoming available all the time, not just at our state-run clinics, but at GP’s and pharmacies across the entire state.
“Boosting your immunity by getting a third jab is the best thing you can do for your own health, the health of your family, friends and the broader community,” Premier Marshall said.
The Mile End vaccination clinic will be open seven days a week from 8am to 4pm.
The clinic is bookings-only for people over 18 years who have had their second dose over four months ago, moving to three months at the end of January.
