Celebrating Aboriginal Culture Recipients Announced

The Territory Labor Government has today announced new recipients for a range of events to celebrate and commemorate a respectful Australia Day.

As part of the Government’s Celebrating Aboriginal Culture (Australia Day) Grant Program, $40,000 has been granted to 11 successful applicants. 

The aim of the grant is to provide funding which contributes to celebrating Aboriginal

culture, language, history and achievements as part of the Territory’s Australia Day celebrations.

The funding will help support a mix of traditional, new and different ways that Aboriginal people and community want to celebrate 65,000+ years of culture, including an Arrernte Culture and Language Workshop, an Aboriginal v All Stars netball match in Central Australia and Tiwi Day 2022 in Wurrumiyanga. 

Grants of up to $5,000 were made available to promote and manage an event, activity or project that celebrates and recognises Aboriginal culture, language, history and achievements as part of Australia Day celebrations 2022.

To be eligible, the event, activity or project that receives funding must take place between 20 January and 28 February 2022.

Grants were available to cover the following: venue hire and equipment costs, resourcing support, event promotion, the delivery of the activity or project, catering costs and more.
