The Tasmanian Government recognises the significant impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on the State’s cultural and creative sector, and that’s why we have provided significant support to help the industry get back on its feet.
In December 2020, we announced a $2 million Live Performance Support Program to give the sector confidence to plan live performances in 2021.
Through this program, our Government will share some of the risk of potential lost ticket sales if performances are required to be cancelled or significantly modified due to changes to Public Health Directives relating to COVID-19, or to our Framework for COVID-19 Safe Events and Activities in Tasmania.
Tasmanian arts organisations, festival organisers, cultural producers and performing arts venues responsible for box office risk on performances or events during the eligible period can apply for a guarantee ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 through the Live Performance Support Program.
This means that if restrictions do need to be re-applied to protect the Tasmanian community from COVID-19, financial assistance is available to help presenters manage costs associated with cancellations.
Applications will open from tomorrow Friday, 5 March 2021 at 10.30am for events and performances scheduled between 1 April 2021 and 30 November 2021. It is important for applications to be assessed to give applicants certainty when planning their events and performances.
Applications will be accepted up to six months before an eligible activity.
