Nurses and midwives, together with clinicians across the board, have provided leadership, commitment, and dedication to keep our communities safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing our major focus on recruiting and retaining health staff across Tasmania to ensure that our hospitals and health facilities are well-equipped to deliver vital health services to all Tasmanians. Since July 2020, we have employed an additional 840 FTE health staff to support new and existing health services across Tasmania, and we are continuing to recruit.
Keynote speakers at this year’s Symposium include 2021 Australian of the year recipient, Grace Tame, and Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer for the Australian Government Department of Health Professor Alison McMillan PSM.
Following the Symposium, the outstanding achievements of Tasmania’s nurses, midwives, and teams will be recognised and celebrated at the Tasmanian Public Sector Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
