I am delighted that the 16th edition of Diabetes Tasmania’s Tasmanian Pollie Pedal ride has broken its fundraising record, with over $78,000 raised over the three-day ride and a record number of riders taking part.
I have been proud to take part in the ride since its inception in 2006 and it has now raised over $818,000 to support Tasmanians with diabetes and their families.
As someone with type 1 diabetes and as a Diabetes Australia Ambassador, I am thrilled to continue supporting the Pollie Pedal and had a great time covering some of the State’s uniquely beautiful east coast landscape during this year’s ride.
I have seen the event grow from humble beginnings to the highly anticipated annual event which it is now as the flagship fundraising event of the year, helping Diabetes Tasmania continue to support locals living with Diabetes.
Thanks to the hard work and commitment of Diabetes Tasmania, today people with diabetes can live a healthy, active life with the right support and care.
I would like to thank all of those who continue to support this very worthy cause, and if anyone would like to learn more about this initiative please visit https://diabetestas.org.au/pollie-pedal/
